A self-driving Taxi Service kicks off on the road of Singapore for the very first time in its public trial.
nuTonomy COO Doug Parker said ,”It chose to try out the service in Singapore because of the high consumer demand for taxis here, well-maintained roads and clear government regulations for its tests. Singapore is the best place in the world for self-driving cars.”
It’s the first time the vehicles have been open to public use. For the test drive, people will be able to claim a free ride through their smartphones.
As of now, the service is limited to an invited group of about 10 people.
nuTonomy plans open the trial to more people in Singapore before making the service commercially available in 2018.
