Amazon S3 Outage Breaks the Internet and Twitter Can’t Stop Trolling the ‘Cloud’

Amazon S3 Cloud service is down. Yes you read it right! Amazon S3 Outage has created massive chaos around the Internet. Some widely known website are partially or fully broken because of high error rates with S3 in US-EAST-1.

As per the AWS Health Dashboard , Latest update reads , “We are seeing recovery for S3 object retrievals, listing and deletions. We continue to work on recovery for adding new objects to S3 and expect to start seeing improved error rates within the hour.” Some most affected websites include Quora, Giphy and many more.

According to data provided by SimilarTech , S3 cloud service is used by around 148,213 websites, and 121,761 unique domains. These numbers are < 1% of Global websites, Yet the massive effect of breakdown shows dependency of AWS over the Internet.

As soon as the service affected by some unknown or undisclosed reason, twitter user can’t stop trolling the cloud service. Let’s have look at some hilarious trolls.

Update at 1:12 PM PST: S3 object retrieval, listing and deletion are fully recovered now. We are still working to recover normal operations for adding new objects to S3.

Update at 2:08 PM PST: As of 1:49 PM PST, we are fully recovered for operations for adding new objects in S3, which was our last operation showing a high error rate. The Amazon S3 service is operating normally.
